Case 5 / 2017 - Scimitar Syndrome and Pulmonary Sequestration in Natural Progression in a 68-Year-Old Woman
نویسندگان
چکیده
Normal pulmonary trunk (22 mm). Dilated left pulmonary artery (27 mm) with increased pulmonary artery-to-bronchus ratio, which may indicate either redirection of the flow or increased pulmonary pressure. Right pulmonary artery was tortuous and hypoplastic, measuring 10 mm in its proximal portion and 9mm in its medial third (Figure 1D). Enlarged branch (13 x 13 mm) from the abdominal aorta at the level of the celiac trunk with ascending course to the posterior-inferior region of the right lung (“aneurysmatic” pulmonary sequestration). Hypoplastic right lung with compensation by the left lung. Posterolateral diaphragmatic discontinuity, suggestive of Bochdalek hernia.

Background: Scimitar syndrome (SS) or congenital pulmonary venolobar syndrome is a rare anomaly, most commonly including partial pulmonary venous drainage into the inferior vena cava, right lung hypoplasia, dextroposition of the heart, and anomalous systemic arterial supply from aorta or one of its branches to the right lung. Case report: A 10-day-old female infant was referred to our hospital...

Bi-Doppler echocardiogram: showed a clear enlargement of right cavities, dilation of the pulmonary trunk and left pulmonary artery. 5 mm ostium secundum interatrial communication with shunt from the left to the right. Pulmonary veins on the left normally drain in normal left atrium and right veins on the dilated inferior vena cava, next to the right atrium. Measurements: RV = 26, LV = 31, PT = ...
